I am Editor and CEO of Media Diversified, an independent publishing platform featuring analysis, stories and cultural content by writers in diaspora, as well as a non-profit working to transform the UK's media industry. I'm also Co-Founder and Director of Bare Lit, a London-based festival of literature. Before this I used to be a News Editor at user-generated press agency, Newzulu.
In a previous life I fed my addictions by running restaurants serving Levantine and North American-inspired menus for five years. I still get my oven gloves on at the weekends to bake for my pop-up, Sunbakes, making cakes and cookies out of unconventional ingredients.
I have a degree in History and Politics (SOAS), a masters in Global Politics (RHUL) and a masters with distinction in Politics and Communication (LSE). I'm also a 2012 fellow of the social entrepreneurship programme On Purpose.
My interests include: digital transformations, particularly as they relate to media consumption; entrepreneurship; effective democratic political processes; transnationalism and diaspora; food and culture; subaltern literatures.
